MGA Invited to Speak at EIC Connect Energy Malaysia

MGA President, En Hazli Sham Kassim presented the “Gas Industry in Malaysia – Recent Developments” at the EIC Connect Energy Malaysia event held at Pullman, Kuala Lumpur City Center on 31st October 2018.

EIC Connect Energy Malaysia, is the third successful EIC Connect event held in the Asia Pacific region, the global trade association having previously held events in Indonesia and Vietnam. Over 200 delegates representing 74 UK energy supply chain companies attended EIC Connect Energy Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on 31 October, the largest inward delegation that Malaysia has seen from the UK in at least four years.

Organized by the EIC, the UK’s largest energy trade association, in partnership with the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, the Department for International Trade, and the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council, EIC Connect Energy Malaysia brought together UK suppliers with Malaysian and Asian Pacific operators, contractors and supply chain members to discuss how they can work together on projects across the region’s oil and gas, power and renewables sectors.

The event’s keynote speakers were British High Commissioner to Malaysia Vicki Treadell, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Isnaraissah Munirah and EIC CEO Stuart Broadley.

In his presentation, En Hazli Sham emphasized that:

  1. Malaysia has goof end-to-end gas infrastructure that is being expanded
  2. The gas market liberalization is continuing to ensure a sustainable market
  3. Gas demand has been showing healthy and sustained demand
  4. The Third Party Access is spawning new business opportunities
