Fuelling a Sustainable Gas Industry’s Transition
13 February 2025 | KUALA LUMPUR Convention CentrE
ABOUT
MyGAS 2025
The Malaysian Gas Symposium (MyGAS) is the premier event in Malaysia dedicated to the natural gas industry, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss the future of natural gas and its role in the global energy transition.
Held biennially since its inception in 2019, MyGAS has garnered strong support from the Ministry of Economy Malaysia, establishing itself as a significant platform for industry dialogue and thought leadership.
The 4th edition of MyGAS, themed “Fuelling a Sustainable Gas Industry’s Transition,” is set to take place in Kuala Lumpur on 13th February 2025 at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). We anticipate over 250 participants from across the globe, including prominent gas industry players, government officials and thought leaders.
In light of the recent global energy crisis, MyGAS 2025 will explore the critical role of natural gas as a transitional fuel for energy security and decarbonisation. With the goal of accelerating the energy transition towards Net Zero Emissions, the symposium will focus on one of the most pertinent issues in the gas industry today: Access to Finance. While financing continues to be a key challenge for gas-related projects, it is vital for driving the progress and implementation of strategic collaboration across the entire gas value chain. Developing regions like Malaysia, which depend on natural gas for socio-economic growth, face unique hurdles in securing investment for gas projects.
MyGAS Aspiration
Aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), MyGAS 2025 aims to engage industry players and policymakers in a collaborative effort to ensure the sustainable and responsible transition of the gas industry. With natural gas playing a crucial role in Malaysia’s clean energy future, the NETR envisions increasing gas’s share of the energy mix from 43% in 2023 to 56% by 2050.
The symposium will provide a key platform for in-depth discussions on Malaysia’s gas industry, market trends, policy direction and global influences. MyGAS 2025 will focus on fostering collaboration to create a balanced, fair and achievable energy transition pathway towards Net Zero by 2050.

key objectives:
Future-proofing a Resilient Malaysian Gas Industry
Tackling the Gas Industry’s Financing Challenge
Fostering Strategic Collaboration
What's on the Horizon
MyGAS 2025 will open with a Ministerial Address from the Minister of Economy presenting Malaysia’s vision for economic growth, reaffirming the critical role of natural gas in a responsible energy transition and emphasising the need for sustainable financing to support the gas industry’s evolution.
A Keynote Presentation by the Ministry of Economy will further provide a strategic outlook on the Malaysian gas industry, highlighting its critical role in an evolving energy landscape and charting pragmatic directions to address emerging challenges.
This global panel will explore the evolving landscape of energy financing and the role of gas in both developed and emerging economies. Experts will discuss the financing challenges faced by the gas industry, the required investments and the conditions for securing sustainable financing that supports long-term energy transition goals.
This session will delve into cross-regional collaborations in the gas industry, focusing on key topics such as regasification facilities, pipelines, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies. Experts will examine how regional cooperation can enhance the resilience and efficiency of the gas industry, ensuring that the gas infrastructure remains adaptable and scalable.
National panel session will explore the transformation of Malaysia’s gas industry as it works to meet the nation’s energy transition goals. The industry faces challenges in balancing growth with sustainability to support the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). To succeed, the gas industry needs equal focus and support, particularly significant investment and funding requires in developing cleaner energy solutions and improving efficiency.
The discussion will also address the significant investment required to achieve the NETR targets, including how much funding is needed and whether it is available. The panel will examine ways to overcome these challenges, such as innovative financing solutions, and highlight the importance of collaboration among policymakers, investors, and industry leaders to ensure the gas industry continues to play a key role in Malaysia’s sustainable energy future.
