Short & Sweet Mini Prestige, Collaboration With Universiti Kuala Lumpur

MGA in collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical & Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) organized a Mini-PRESTIGE on 19 December 2017 at the latter’s campus in Alor Gajah, Melaka.
PRESTIGE is an annual event organized by MGA, since 2008, designed to provide university students, a sneak preview to career and working life in the energy sector, as well as educating the students on importance of energy, in particular natural gas.
The Mini-PRESTIGE is a condensed version of PRESTIGE 2017, that were recently held in Melaka City from the 10th to 12th of November. A total of five universities from the southern region, including UniKL, participated in that program. Based on their feedback, most of the students found PRESTIGE 2017, to be very useful and informative. All the sessions received ratings exceeding 4, from a maximum of 5. Impressed by the success of PRESTIGE, UniKL invited MGA to repeat PRESTIGE at their campus, but condensed to one day.
The Mini-PRESTIGE kick-off with welcoming remarks by the Deputy Dean of Student Development and Campus Lifestyle (SDCL) of UniKL MICET, Dr. Zulhairi bin Abdul Rahim. This is followed by the opening remarks by En. Rosman Hamzah, Secretary General of MGA.
The morning session focused on Energy and comprise the following talks;
· Talk on Gas Advocacy called “Gas and Me” by En. Rosli Khairon from MGA
· “Malaysian Gas Industry Updates” by En. Rosman.
· “Outlook On Energy” by En. Sukiman Mohamed from ExxonMobil
Later, the students were given the opportunity to interact with En. Rosli and En. Sukiman in a panel session moderated by En. Rosman Hamzah on the topic of “Future Energy for Malaysia”.
The morning session ended with a talk on “Asset Pipeline Integrity” by En. Nija Amri Jemari by H. Rosen.
The afternoon session focused on career and begins with a sharing session by Pn. Murni Shariff from MGA on the topic of “Interviewing for Success”. Her session included a demonstration of a mock interview.
This is followed by En. Rosman sharing his career journey in the energy sector to set the tone for the ensuing panel discussions.
Dr. Aliff Radzuan Mohamad Radzi from UniKL moderated a very interactive panel session on “Navigating the Future” where En. Rosman, En. Sukiman, En. Nija and Pn. Murni shared experiences, provided career advice and responded to questions from the students.
Mini-PRESTIGE ended with the closing remarks by Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Naim Yahaya, the Dean of UniKL MICET.
