On the 3rd November 2017, more than 600 members, associates and invited guests attended the MGA – MOGSC Industry Gala Dinner 2017 at Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This much anticipated annual networking event was also graced by the presence of YBhg Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, the Patron of MGA and his spouse, YBhg Puan Sri Dr. Azura Ahmad Tajuddin, as Guests of Honour.
The theme for this year’s dinner is “Ala P.Ramlee and Saloma” and true to the theme, the dancers kick off the evening dancing ala P.Ramlee and Saloma to songs from that era.
Before the MGA President’s welcome remarks, the audience were presented with the environmentally important video on “Natural Gas – the Future of Energy”. In his speech, En. Hazli Shah Kassim said “It is a great reminder to us – as key players in the oil & gas industry, and as residents of this beautiful place we call home – on the things that that we need to take notice of and, most importantly, of what we need to do to co-create a better tomorrow. Let us take a moment to remember what really matters – friends, family, home and the future that we are creating as our legacy for the generations to come.”
Under the challenging global oil and gas market, En. Hazli underlined the importance of Perseverance and Collaboration in ensuring survival of the industry, drawing parallels with scenes from P. Ramlee movies such as “Bujang Lapok” and “Do Re Mi”.
After that thought provoking speech, MGA members and guests settled down for dinner and were serenaded with the delightful and relaxing performance by Ushera, singing ala Saloma. Comedian Phoon Chi Ho then lighted up the floor and stole the night with his provocative jokes. The main show of the evening was headline singer, the evergreen Zur Eda, belting a couple of her own hits and other popular songs down-the-memory lane.
The dinner was emceed by the versatile Kishz and his interactions on stage with finalists of the male and female best dressed awards were, to put it mildly, just hilarious. MGA President, who sponsored the prize for Best Dressed Male, gave away the prizes.
There were three lucky draw rounds altogether that gave away more than 30 prizes to lucky winners. Hong Leong Investment Bank, K Shah Energy Resources, and Ruhm Marine sponsored the grand prizes. The grandest prize of them all was a MacBook Pro, sponsored by Deleum Berhad.
The evening would not have been successful without the generous sponsorship by the following companies;
MIR Valve Sdn Bhd – Main Sponsor
McDermott Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd – Door Gift Sponsor
MOGSEC 2018 – Reception Sponsor
H Rosen Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd – Photo Booth Sponsor
Dialog Berhad – Lucky Draw Sponsors
Everyone had an utterly joyful and memorable night and is already looking forward to MGA – MOGSC Industry Gala Dinner 2018.
