This enriching and productive Forum was attended by more than 150 attendees comprising of delegates, speakers and invited guests.
The honored Speakers were indeed benevolent in sharing their valuable and insightful experiences and views on topics that were of great interest to the audience who hailed from companies which are directly or indirectly involved in the energy and gas-related sectors.
The Roundtable discussion generated active participation and interactions with lively, open and ‘sensitive’ questions raised from the floor and prompt answers and retorts from the Panelists.
Questions raised touched on the removal of subsidies and what kind of tariff is to be expected from TNB to the consumers, will the increase in cost of generation be passed to the consumers, what should be the market price for using gas, what other option is there besides having to subsidize heftily to encourage solar energy vis-Ã -vis lower cost of using coal as practiced in other countries, exclusion of Bakun power in energy supply mix for transmission to Peninsula Malaysia, availability of gas supply, issue of security of supply, point on higher value-added for gas utilization by industry and non power sectors vis-Ã -vis usage in power sector and public perception of implementation of nuclear power.
The positive feedback garnered from the Forum augurs well for organizing similar session for next year. MGA is indeed committed to organize more such fora in the near future which will be aligned to address energy and gas-related contemporary issues which are of great interest and would wield influential impact in one way or another on commercial businesses as well as on the daily living of the ordinary layman. Such Forum could also serve to provide a conducive platform for stakeholders i.e. gas suppliers, consumers, planners, service providers and policy makers of the day to meet and exchange views with the concerted aim to evolve win-win collaborations to contribute positively to the development, promotion, sustenance and effective and efficient utilization of our energy resources. Looking forward to your support and participation for the coming Energy Forum 2011.
