The visit to First Solar Plant at Kulim Hi Tech Park was an excellent exposure to the participants. Their visit was the first visit ever by an oil & gas group. It is the largest thin-film solar module manufacturer in the world and all its products are exported. It captures 20% of the world’s market. Its product has 17.3 % efficiency (the world record) v.s. 8 to 9 % for its nearest competitor!

The TTPC 650 MW power plant at Kuala Sungai Baru was the first gas powered IPP that signed the license with TNB (in 1998) but the last to materialize. The gas supply is 110 mmscf/day, mainly from the JDA GSP at Chana near Songkla, which is 78 km away from Perlis.

Lunch was hosted by TTPC at “Anjong Keli”, a restaurant known for their fried eel delicacy. Participants were also took to visit a grape and a harum manis farm (Government owned farm).

Feedbacks from the participants were very positive and more of such trips were requested to be organized.
