MGA positioned Natural Gas as a Clean and Efficient Energy Source at a Regional Energy Conference

On 24 August 2021, represented by it Secretary General, Rosman Hamzah, MGA spoke at the BIMP-EAGA Energy Online Conference & Exhibition (BECE 2021), themed “BIMP-EAGA Energy Sector – Opportunities & Challenges”.

Speaking on “Positioning Natural Gas As a Clean And Efficient Source Of Energy in the BIMP-EAGA Region” in Session 6 of the conference, Rosman delivered a comprehensive presentation based on the following topics;

  1. An overview of the energy priorities in ASEAN
  2. Gas as the critical fuel for the energy transition
  3. Gas and its impact on the socio-economic growth (learning from the Malaysian example)
  4. The role of gas in ASEAN energy transition.

Rosman summed up his presentation with the following important key takeaways for the audience to bring home:

  1. In balancing energy trilemma, gas should be the critical fuel for the region’s pragmatic energy transition towards a low-carbon economy.
  2. To ensure expansion of energy access and socio-economic growth of ASEAN countries, investment and funding on the gas field and delivery infrastructure must continue.
  3. Gas associations, such as MGA, can be the important bridge between policymakers and the industry to enhance the role of the gas industry in achieving the regional energy aspirations.

The presentation was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Dr. Theresia Betty Sumarno a Researcher from Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center, Indonesia.
