Practical Environmental, Safety and Guidance for Student Engineers (PRESTIGE) 2021

On 16 & 23 October 2021, MGA once again organised its annual student’s outreach programme PRESTIGE 2021. This year marks the second time PRESTIGE was held virtually since MGA first started run the programme in 2008.
Abdul Aziz Othman, President of MGA welcomed students to PRESTIGE 2021 with his opening remarks on the past stories and the objectives behind PRESTIGE programme. Delivering his speech, MGA President took the opportunity to address important messages about tremendous contributions of gas industry as the driver to Malaysia’s socio-economic growth in the past and pivotal role of gas in ensuring a pragmatic and just energy transition in the future.
PRESTIGE 2021 was successfully participated by 300 Engineering students from 10 Universities in Malaysia focusing and driven on four important topics including: 1. Pragmatic Energy Transition Towards Low Carbon Economy; 2. Important of Safety in the Malaysian Gas Industry ; 3. the Employment Reality in Malaysia Today; 4. Mega Panel Discussion: Career in Oil & Gas Sector. The two days of event was supported by the industry leaders from MGA member companies who came forward to share their expertise will enhance the awareness of the whole value chain of the natural gas industry, the importance of HSE, and career opportunities, in the hope of increasing their employability rate and preparedness in joining the industry upon graduation.
