NGV Safety Workshop Report

MGA, together with PNGV (Petronas NGV Sdn. Bhd.), ANGVA (Asia Pacific NGV Association) and MANGVI (Malaysian NGV Vehicle Installers Association), jointly organized the NGV Safety Workshop on 25 October 2016 at the Petronas Dagangan Bhd. Training Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The workshop was attended by about 50 invited participants from JPJ, KPDNKK, DOSH, SIRIM, SPAD, TNE, MILS, Sime Darby, Taxi Associations.
The objectives of the workshop were to:
a) Increase awareness of safety of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) amongst government agencies, users and other stakeholders
b) Increase awareness of the requirements in the Malaysian Standards and International Standards for NGV
The event was officiated by En Shaharuddin Sidek, CEO of PNGV Sdn. Bhd.
The workshop underscored the need for active monitoring and enforcement of safety standards, clarity of roles of the relevant government authorities and the need for education and training among all stakeholders.
The workshop featured presentations by ANGVA, MANGVI, PNGV and JPJ. The workshop also included discussion sessions focusing on ‘education and training on NGV safety’ and ‘NGV safety monitoring and enforcement’ and ended with a dialogue discussion with representatives from JPJ, DOSH and KPDNKK as the panelists.
